THE ORIGINAL GDR-DESIGN HOTEL IN BERLIN

Take a trip back in time, relive East Berlin of the seventies and eighties.

In a massive apartmentbuilding you find the Ostel, designed to take you back. There is a new trend in Berlin, the so called “Ostalgia” – The memories of how was in the GDR before the Wall was torn down.

You can find it in the middle of the town, close to the Ostbahnhof. It is something between an hotel and an hostel.

As soon as you step into the reception you’ll notice that this is not an ordinary place. On the walls are pictures of former GDR leaders and other heroes of the era. There are plastic flowers and bright colored items everywhere, mainly in yellow and orange.
