Trying to look like Denmark - Solvang, California
Trying hard to look like Denmark – Solvang, California

Walking around in Solvang certainly gives you the flavour of Denmark, but in a strange sort of American way. The houses look very much like the typical oldfashion danish countryhouse that you don’t find too many of in Denmark anymore. In a sense Solvang is much more Danish than Denmark. All in all, nice place to visit, but a fifteen minutes stroll is all you need to take it all in. For more on Solvang:

Going east from Solvang took us through the beautiful Saint Ynez Valley, one of the main wine-producing districts in all of the US. Lovely scenerey and a wide, open landscape greeted us as we drove through. For lunch we stopped in a small village called Los Olivos. This is the kind of place where time seems to have been frozen. It’s a very picturesque place, very quiet and very genuine. For more on Los Olivos:

Also in Los Olivos was a very special Garden Center named J. Woeste: Visit them here: J. Woeste

It’s a fun place to be, and really worth a visit, especially if you’re into gardening: More images
